Can a Google review be removed in Austria?
Yes – if it violates Google's content policies or applicable law. Whether that is the case depends on the exact wording and the circumstances. A low rating or unpleasant but factual criticism is not enough on its own.
- Specific policy ground: Identify the exact statement or circumstance that may conflict with a Google policy.
- Relevant evidence: Compare verifiable claims with records that relate to the review and its timeframe.
- Limits and next steps: A plain opinion is often permitted. A report does not guarantee removal; Google decides after its own review.

How an assessment works
- Send the review: Send the review link and a short description of the concern for an initial assessment.
- Case-specific review: Attorneys from our network assess the review, identify relevant issues and explain which supporting information may matter.
- Decision and next steps: We explain the outcome and any available next step. Google decides whether to remove the review.
A review is not a guaranteed removal
A negative rating alone is not enough. A report can be made where there is a specific potential policy issue; Google reviews the report and decides what happens.
Why Reputationskanzlei?
We are not a law firm, but we work with a network of specialised attorneys. That combines a proper legal review with a process that stays simple and predictable for businesses.
- Legal review by our network of attorneys
- Every review is assessed against Google's policies and Austrian law before we challenge it.
- Pay only on success
- You only pay for reviews that Google actually removes. A review that stays online costs you nothing.
- Second attempt at no extra cost
- If the first attempt fails, our terms provide for a second attempt at no additional charge.
- Protection against repeats
- If a review demonstrably from the same user reappears after removal, we challenge it again at no extra fee.
- Austrian law, not German rulings
- We argue with Austrian civil and competition law and Supreme Court case law.
- Honest initial assessment
- The free initial assessment tells you whether there is a valid ground – and if not, why.
You pay per removed review
The initial assessment is free. A fee is due only for reviews that are actually removed. We confirm price and terms in the offer before work begins.

Frequently asked questions
How long does review removal take?
According to our terms, usually one to four weeks. Google typically reviews a report within several days; nobody can guarantee a fixed date because Google decides.
Is there a guarantee for removal?
No removal can be guaranteed because Google makes the decision. You only pay for reviews that are actually removed, so the risk of a failed attempt is not yours.
What does the service cost?
The initial assessment is free. Per removed review you pay €289 net for one review, down to €259 net from ten reviews, plus VAT. Nothing is charged for reviews that stay online.
What does an unsuccessful attempt cost?
Nothing. A review that stays online costs you nothing, and our terms provide for a second attempt at no extra charge.
Is the process legal?
Yes. Specific Google reviews are legally assessed by our network of attorneys and challenged through Google's official channels only where there are concrete indications of a policy or legal violation. Google decides on removal.
Can an anonymous review be removed?
Anonymity alone is not a ground for removal; many genuine customers review under a pseudonym. What matters is whether the review violates Google's policies or the law.
Do I have to prove the person was never a customer?
Before Austrian courts, yes: under Supreme Court decision 6 Ob 120/23z the business bears the burden of proof. With Google, concrete contradictions and patterns count more than the bare claim.
Are you a law firm?
No. Specific reviews are legally assessed by our network of specialised attorneys. Provider and contact details are in the imprint.
